2nd Gen Camaro Passes With Flying Colors!

Editors over at Source Interlink took a couple of Camaros out to the track for a test run. The results are amazing! With "Camaro Performers" Nick Licata at the wheel, this cherry red 2nd Gen Camaro featuring CPP's new Tubular Control Arms, 500 Series Power Steering Box and Sway Bar with Billet Mounting Brackets took the slalom course at 48 mph! Customer Vehicles at SEMA 2011

Once again CPP was a dominate force at SEMA. Besides our usual booth presence, CPP was well represented by dozens of our customers who were displaying their vehicles at SEMA; all sporting CPP products. These vehicles are a testimony to satisfied customers who have purchased and use our products. Here are four examples: a 1978 Chevy truck, a 1967 Pontiac GTO, a 1964 Lincoln and a 1959 Cadillac.

It’s fall, which means it’s SEMA time. Held annually, SEMA is the world’s largest automotive specialty products trade show and runs for four bumper-to-bumper days in Las Vegas.

Open only to automotive industry professionals, the show attracts over 100,000 attendees from more than 100 countries.

This will be CPP’s 8th consecutive year at SEMA and we will once again have a booth overflowing with our latest and greatest products. We will also debut our newest retail catalog.

A-lo-ha! Our 2nd annual company picnic had a little island flair this year, complete with flower leis, Hawaiian buffet and plenty of Aloha-spirit. Held once again at La Mirada’s Neff Park, CPP’s growing family was treated to a festive scene of food and games. Sno-cones, water fights, and balloon tosses kept everyone cool in the summer heat, while the face painting and huge bounce house and slide were hit with the little ones. Hula-hoop contests, limbo dance, relay races, and a heated game of volleyball had everyone smiling throughout the day.

We love it when our customers drop-in to show us the CPP parts they've put on their vehicles.

Today, is a good example. While traveling home from a car show in San Jose, CA, Chip Brown of Las Vegas, Nevada stopped by to show off his newly finished red, 1965 Chevelle. After doing a complete frame-off restoration, Chip knew he wanted CPP parts for his steering, brake and suspension needs. His CPP parts list included: tubular control arms — upper & lower, big brake kits — front & rear with upgraded red calipers, booster—master cylinder —proportioning valve assembly, and a 500 series power steering box with linkage accessories.

Chip is more than pleased with the performance and handling of his new beauty, and he credits CPP for much of that.

Tri-Fives are Alive at CPP

Like a scene right out of the movie “American Graffiti”, more than 50 Tri-Five Chevys gathered in the wee hours of the morning in a parking lot in Fullerton before hitting the road for a cruise through Fullerton and Anaheim. The event marked the first annual Tri-Five Cruise and CPP ShopTour held last Saturday and it was a huge success!

The rain gods were nice to us, holding off any storms for the day, and even getting sneak peaks of the sun in the afternoon. Members of the tri-five.com forum spread the word about the event as well as CPP customers. Coming from as far away as San Francisco, San Diego and the Inland Empire, shoebox owners were treated to a day full of classic rock-n-roll tunes, behind-the-scenes tours of CPP, Carl’s Jr. burgers and lots of raffle prizes. Thanks to our wonderful sponsors, everyone received goodie buckets and raffle prizes totaling over $10,000.

The special guest of the day, thanks to Source Interlink, was “Project X”, the famous yellow ’57 Belair featured in the pages of Popular Hot Rodding since 1965. CPP owner Jim Ries led the cruise having the special honor of being in the driver’s seat of “X”. “What an honor and thrill it was to drive such an iconic vehicle!”

CPP Keeps On Truckin'

It was awesome! Early one morning, over 100 classic trucks — everything from C-10s to F-100s — convened in Fullerton for a 10-mile cruise that would wind through Fullerton, Brea and Anaheim. They were headed to CPP for the 1st Annual CPP Classic Truck Shop Tour, which was held March 12, 2011.

Though the weather was over-casted, the mood was bright and sunny, as everyone spent the day chatting and checking out each other’s vehicles. Everything was there; from works-in-progress to incredible show trucks.

Our cameras were there to capture the fun, which included the CPP’s shop tour, lunch courtesy of CPP and multiple raffle prize give-a-ways.

The Novas Have Taken Over CPP!

When we challenged the local Nova community to break last year's number of cars that came to our Nova cruise and shop tour, we didn't think so many of you would take us seriously! Word spread quickly about our 3rd annual event through StevesNovaSite.com and SoCalNovas and our own customer base. Over 110 Novas met up in the early morning hours this past Saturday, March 5th, before hitting the highway and cruising to our shop. What a sight to behold...four lanes of Novas across the 57 freeway! Participants from all over Orange County, Ventura, San Diego and the Inland Empire joined in on the 10-mile cruise through Brea, Fullerton and Anaheim. Once the caravan arrived at CPP, parking was swift and very organized thanks to some awesome volunteers and employees. Goody bags were handed out and raffle tickets entered into the drawing. Our sponsors kicked in some great stuff with the grand prize being a Total Cost Involved Rear Torque Arm Kit valued at $1799! Tours of our engineering department, machine shop, build department, shipping and showroom went on throughout the morning, giving everyone an inside view of CPP. The In & Out Burger truck arrived just in time to feed the hungry crowd. We will have the event video up real soon, so be sure to check back on our website! After the final count was tallied...140 Novas lined the streets in front of CPP. Can we top that next year?!?

We have been having so much fun with our Nova Cruise and CPP Shop Tour the past three years, we have decided to plan a Classic Truck Day. 3rd Annual Jeff's Fun Run Returns to CPP

This year's Jeff's Fun Run, organized by Pickups Limited, was the largest and most successful poker run to date. Event organizer Chris Travers estimated about 200 vehicles took part in the day's festivities. CPP was the first stop last Saturday morning, with Freedom Avenue being taken over by all makes and models of vehicles. It was an amazing sight! Some of our customers that came down to pick up parts were treated to a parade of classic cars and trucks parked on our street. One exclaimed, "I just came down to get my parts and I got the best surprise ever...a whole car show right in front of me!" Jeff's Fun Run is organized every year in honor of Pickups Limited member Jeff Hornsby who passed away 3 years ago. All proceeds will be donated to City of Hope and a memorial plaque will be placed in their gardens this year to mark the club's fund raising efforts in Jeff's name.

Leaving Las Vegas Once Again...

The SEMA show is the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world. The annual show draws the industry's brightest minds and hottest products to one place for four jam-packed days in Vegas. While the event is not open to the general public, the show attracts over 100,000 industry leaders from more than 100 countries. This year, the overwhelming attitude from the attendees was positive and favorable. CPP's booth was overflowing with traffic each day, with lots of interest generated with our up and coming products as well as our new catalogs. While the show is very labor-intensive for us, we left the city knowing we had made some new friendships as well as renewed some old ones.

Fun for Everyone!

On Sunday, July 18, 2010, CPP held its First Annual Company Picnic. Celebrating the hard work of CPP’s great team, the event was held at Neff Park located in La Mirada*. It was a full house with 96 adults and 25 kids in attendance.

Once everyone arrived it was time to eat. Young and old feasted on a mouth-watering meal, served-up by Summit Events, which included everything from BBQ chicken and spare ribs to a variety of drinks and ice cream.

After savoring lunch, children of all ages were treated to an assortment of games, including a hula-hoop contest, a tug-o-war, water-balloon tossing, and team trudging. Plus, a huge bounce-house and slide provided additional entertainment for the wee ones. In addition, the athletic members of CPP engaged in a spirited game of volleyball. James Events was coordinator and master-of-ceremonies for all the silliness.

Despite predictions of temperatures over 90°, the weather was ideal—hot, but not too hot—perfect for water pistol fights, misting bottles and dumping ice cold water on friends—and that included the owner! (Wow, and we still have our jobs. Go figure.)

Finally, after over 5 hours of fun, everyone packed-up and headed home. Tired, but happy!

* History buffs take note: Neff Park is named after the Neff family. Nannie Neff was the daughter of Andrew McNally, founder and president of Rand McNally Publishing Company. In 1888, he purchased almost 2,300 acres of rangeland and named the area La Mirada, which in Spanish means "The View".

Neff Park covers ten acres and includes three historic buildings, a gazebo, basketball court, tennis court, horseshoes pits, a playground, and picnic areas. The historic buildings include: Neff Home, George House, and Neff Barn. If you are in the area, you got to check it out.

Gone to be with Jesus!

It is with great sadness that we must report that Rod Bosshard has died!

Rod was one of the owners of Prestige Thunderbird located in Santa Fe Springs, California, and a good customer of CPP. But Rod was more than a customer; he was a close friend—and most of all an amazing person, loved by everyone.

In the summer of 2009, Rod was diagnosed with colon cancer. In August 2009 he under went surgery and began a rigorous treatment of Chemo Therapy.

Unfortunately, Rod passed away suddenly, but peacefully at about 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 7 2010. He is survived by his wife, Cindy and their children.

Visitors to CPP will be treated to some hot new eye-candy when they walk into our showroom now. Our new 1957 Chevy Belair display was unveiled last week to rave reviews. Painted Sunset Pearl Orange, a Foose original color, this tri-five features CPP products throughout. To help customers with their tech and install questions, the display has both stock as well as upgrade parts. The driver side sports CPP's front and rear Big Brakes, drop spindle, Totally Tubular upper and lower control arms, chrome 8" dual booster with chrome master cylinder, and 500 Series Power Steering Box, while the passenger side has CPP's SOS front Brake Kit on a stock spindle with Minimum Offset Rotor, and 11" Standard Rear Brake Kit. Other cool features include CPP's 25 gallon aluminum fuel tank, engine mounts, Totally Tubular Transmission Mounts and our new original-style Automatic Steering Column. CPP's Expanding Universe

While many businesses in today's economy are minimizing, contracting and down-sizing, CPP continues to expand. This sure and steady growth has been made possible by listening to our customers and their needs, and by seeking and developing more efficient methods to provide those needs.

Our new procurement office is an example of that commitment. By demolishing three small offices (Engineering, Art and Photo departments — see earlier blogs), and converting them into one large office, the Procurement office is now conveniently located next to the shipping and receiving departments. This will allow those departments to interact more efficiently with one another in the process speed-up the ordering, receiving and shipping of products.

CPP's ultimate goal in its on-going commitment to constantly reassess and improve what we do and how we do it, is to provide you — the customer — with the very best products at the lowest possible prices.

Virtual Reality: 3-D Scanner

It’s out with the old, and in with the new.

In the past, when we wanted reproduce an existing OEM part and/or design an improved part to work with an OEM part, we would have to measure the OEM part by hand, reproduce it as an illustration, from which a hand-tooled prototype would be produced. Then the prototype would be used to test fit the new part(s) designed to work with it. Labor intensive and time consuming, it often required weeks, if not months, to produce. Those days are gone.

Now, CPP has Multi-Stripe Laser Triangulation (MLT) technology This Star Trek like tool uses lasers to scan any part to produce a virtual 3-D reproduction. The accuracy of the reproduction is unparalleled with 360,000 dots measure per sq inch.

Next, using our computer assisted design (CAD) system the 3-D reproduction can be virtually integrated and tested with any part we desire to create. This means we can quickly and easily work out the kinks for a better fit with in hours instead of weeks or months. With a shorter turn-around time from concept to production, products are much improved and costs are minimized.

The event, held Saturday, March 20th was CPP's 2nd Annual Nova Shop Tour.

Thanks to RK Smith, members of SoCal Novas and Steve's Nova Site gathered at 7 AM, near the corner of Brookhurst and Orangethorpe. From there, they cruised a winding route through Fullerton and Anaheim to CPP.

Once all the cars were parked at CPP, everyone had a great time checking out the various Novas, taking photos and video, talking with each other, and getting tech assistance from the CPP crew.

Also, friends and families enjoyed the toured our facility, including our recently expanded CNC shop, and the new and expanded offices for the Engineering, Art and Photo department.

Rounding out the event, goody bags and raffle prizes where handed out, including a 4-Link Coil-Over Kit, an $1,100 value.

At noon, with tires squealing and the smell of rubber in the air, everyone cruised to Nick's Burgers for lunch, compliments of CPP.

It was another great day with a wonderful group of people, and we are already planning ahead for next years event. Hope to see you there.

That is why this week we removed an old, inefficient heating and air conditioning system, and replaced it with a top-of-the-line model.

Now as summer and business heats-up, we'll have the coolest employees in the industry. Oh yes, they are the friendliest and most knowledgable, too.

Magic Carpet Ride

At CPP we get thing done ASAP. Once the Engineering, Art and Photo departments were relocated to more spacious digs next door, their combined space was demolished (see blog: "Size Does Matter") to make way for a new work area. That job was completed within a week.

The final step to complete the project was to lay new carpet. So the floor was cleared of dirt and debris, and a layer of carpet glue was lathered onto the bare floor. Next the carpet was laid on the floor and made snug against the wall. Finally, black baseboards were glue along the edge of the carpet and wall. After that, it only needed to be vacuumed and the job was complete, and what was once three small offices is now one large space ready to be occupied by the Procurement Department

As you can see, CPP isn't standing still. We're growing at a sure and steady pace, which means we can offer you more and better service and at a greater value.

Rapid Prototype Now Online

If you want to make the best and be the best, you must have the best. That's why CPP is constantly looking for innovative, time saving, and cost effective methods of producing its award winning products. Our new Rapid Prototype machine, known as a 3D printer, which is up and running is an example of what we mean.

After a brief training session, Chief Engineer, Danny Nix, was ready to go. Right from his desk he can design a new product using CAD (computer assisted design), then with the touch of a button he can render in ABS plastic a full-scale prototype using our new RP machine.

CPP is the industry leader in Steering, Brake and Suspension parts, and using cutting-edging technology is one of the ways we stay ahead of the pack.

The Future is Here

CPP is now the proud owner of a Dimension bst 1200es 3D printer. What's that you say? Well it's a rapid prototype machine that uses ABS plastic powder to produce one-off versions of a product.

It's not exactly Star Trek, but with the push of a button, we can transform a virtual 3D rendering of one of our new products into a solid 3D prototype.

Solid 3D prototypes are instrumental in working out the bugs in the design of a new product, but they are costly and time consuming to make. Now, using our rapid prototype machine, we can create in a matter of hours what in the past would take days, weeks, even months to do. This saves time and money, which means we can produce better and more reliable products, and offer them to you at a substantial savings.

Training for Excellence

Manufacturing the best quality products requires highly skilled technicians that are dedicated to excellence, and that’s what we have here at CPP. Maintaining this level of skill requires constant training in new and more efficient methods of production.

For example, CPP recently purchased one of Haas’ top-of-the-line CNC machines. In short order, an instructor from Haas was on-site teaching our crew how to maximize the machine’s power and versatility.

Size Does Matter!

Stable, steady and sustained growth: that’s our goal at CPP. To that end, we have expanded yet again. This time our Engineering, Art and Photo departments are on the move. Five years ago all three departments were crammed into three tiny offices next to each other. No one complained; hey, it was a step up from the cubicles in the old building. But as CPP has grown, so have the demands on each department.

Last week in one mighty move over night all three departments were relocated next door in our second building, which was acquired two years ago.

Wow, what a difference! Each department virtually doubled its floor space. Finally, the Engineering department is in the same building as our huge CNC manufacturing department, the Art Department has four work stations instead of two, and the photo room no longer doubles as a storage area.

Then, wham, bam, thank you ma’am: in one day the old Engineering, Art and Photo departments were demolished making way for our new Procurement department.

What’s next? You’ll just have to wait and see, there’s always more to come from CPP.

2nd Annual Jeff's Fun Run Stops By

Classic Performance Products was once again the first poker run stop for the 2nd Annual Jeff's Fun Run. The event, hosted by Pickups Limited of Orange County, honors one of their members Jeff Hornsby who passed away last year. All event proceeds went to benefit cancer research. Over 150 vehicles participated in the festivities which began at Ken Grody Ford and made stops at Danchuk, Crevier Classic Cars, TruSpeed Motor Cars, Parts Pro Proformance Warehouse. CPP helped with the grand prize of a Craftsman roll-a-way tool box which the driver with the best poker hand walked away with. The weather was beautiful, the smiles were abundant, and we never tire of seeing all those awesome classics cruising by our shop!

American Beauty in England

Here's something you don't see everyday in jolly ol' England: a cool American pick-up that has been revamped and customized.

Owned by Jimmy Hibbeard, this 1967 Chevy truck has come a long way in time, distance and appearance since it first arrived at Valley Gas Speed Shop, located in Berkshire, England.

For starters the original taillights were eliminated and replaced with a custom design, which were fabricated into the rear panels.

Next this little gem was given a two-tone coat of paint at House of Kolor, and finished off with silver pin-striping to separate the colors.

To improve the ride and handling, Classic Performance Product's famous suspension and brake parts were installed. This included a Full Tubular Suspension Package, (trailing arms, crossmember, C-notches, shock relocation kit, deluxe trac bar, lowering blocks, lowered shocks, axle perches, U-bolts, coil springs, and spring retainers) and a Front and Rear Disc Brake Kit. Plus, a CPP fuel tank was added.

For the interior, a Dakota digital dash was installed into a custom made dash, which wraps round into the doors. The changes didn't stop there. "We added engine-turned aluminum in the dash along with So-Cal switches," commented Jimmy. "Plus, we also installed an air conditioning system by Vintage Air."

All of this was complimented by Bespoke Car Interiors, which trimmed the cab in black with hints of silver.

Finally, Intro Custom Wheels were installed, "Which is rare in this part of the world," Jimmy declared. "Indeed, we don't think anyone else has these types of wheels over here."

The Pros Come to CPP!

Whenever the pros want to upgrade their cars or trucks they turn to CPP, and John Barkley of "Street Rodder" magazine is no exception. John wanted a complete power steering overhaul for his 2-door '66 Chevy Bel Air, and he got it.

We began by installing our new CP50004 power steering gear box, which is a modern unit that provides a 14:1 ratio unit and a rag joint (RJC730R). Like all of CPP's 500 Series™ steering boxes, it is engineered with recirculation ball gears for low friction and increased steering response.

Next, we installed our new CPP bottle neck Power Steering Pump (PSP6151) along with the Power Steering Bracket (PS301), Pulley (CP38809) and Hose kit (CPUHK).

For improved stability, we installed CPP's new Double Adjustable Rear Trac Bar kit and replaced the worn out coil spring and shocks with a new set of CPP coil springs and shocks.

Rounding out the job, we installed our CPP Shift Linkage kit (CPTSL-L), plus cleaned up the rear brake lines with our Rear Brake Hose Tab kit (RBHT).

Now John's Bel Air handles better than ever, and the smile on his face and his testimony below proves it.

"Guys, I have to tell you I love your new steering box that was recently installed in my 66 Bel Air. Anyone who has and drives a 60’s or 70’s GM product with power steering knows how wishy washy the steering feel is. No road feed back at all and, even worse, it’s so touchy that you can’t relax driving at highway speed, the car will wander. The new technology box you have designed and built is awesome! The road feel is back and you can comfortably cruise at today’s highway speeds (80 mph or get out of the way!) I am looking forward to upgrading the suspension now to keep up with the steering.

P.S. While we were at it, we bought your power steering pump mounting kit. My car has headers so the original factory mount that includes the cast iron exhaust had been modified to work. Your mount is simple and clean, easy to install and adjust and the pump assembly now looks better."

Have You Checked Your Hoses Lately?

One of our salesmen, Jeff Norton, got an email from a customer the other day regarding a brake conversion he was in the middle of. He had purchased a complete front and rear Big Brake system from us as well as our MCPV-1 master cylinder. He was having trouble bleeding the brakes and had tried just about everything in the book before asking for help. This is one of our more common tech questions from customers, some figuring it out quite easily and some having major issues with it. After trading emails back and forth for a day or two trying to solve the problem, we received this photo from him:

Yep, that is the brake hose cut open and it was completely plugged. Moral of the story? Replace all your hoses! As Jeff says, "sometimes old hoses are like a clogged artery in a person. If this hose was in a human body, they would've had a massive heart attack!" The gunk that clogged that brake hose was already in the brake system even though the brakes were working. The bleeding process only moved the gunk to the hose were it became blocked. Our engineer, Danny Nix also recommends these guidelines to maintain brake fluid: DOT 3 fluid should be flushed every 2 years; DOT 4 fluid should be flushed every year. Silicone and DOT 5 fluid are race-oriented and will absorb little to no moisture.

CPP Goes to SEMA

For the sixthconsecutive year, Classic Performance Products, Inc. was an exhibitor at SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association) Show, one of industry’s largest gatherings of dealers and manufactures of aftermarket and specialty equipment products. The show, which ran from Tuesday, November 3 through Friday, November 6, was held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada.

This year, our presence at SEMA began October 31 with a set-up crew driving in from Anaheim, California. Working three days straight, the CPP team assembled a newly redesigned booth, which featured new product packaging on display, an interactive display of our new billet U-joints, plus cool new graphics, and a flat screen TV running CPP videos.

Super Chevy's Suspension Handling Challenge

"The Super Chevy 2nd Annual Suspension Handling Challenge" was recently held at the El Toro Testing facility in Southern California. Equipped with CPP's Mini-subframe kit, tubular upper control arms, sway bars, coil over kit, disc spindles, and big brake kit, Bryan Fargo's 1967 Chevrolet Nova was put to the test. Everyone from CPP was proud of the speed and performance of this little beauty. It ran as expected.

13 Year Old Builds 1954 Chevy Truck

This is Ryan, and he’s a pretty amazing kid. Ever since he was a little guy he was fascinated by anything with a steering wheel.

When Ryan turned 10, his dad pointed to the 1954 Chevy truck sitting in the driveway and declared, “The truck is now yours.” This truck had been in the family since Ryan’s dad was 10 years old.

Needless-to-say, Ryan exploded with excitement. Immediately, he began learning all about the truck, even how to drive a stick on the column. Together, over a three-year period Ryan and his father worked nights and weekends to restore the truck. “He is truly a car guy,” says his dad, “He even read the CPP catalog and placed many of the orders for the necessary parts.”

Now that Ryan has finished his ’54 Chevy truck, he and his dad are preparing to restore his grandmother's '66 convertible mustang. This, of course, is another project and a story for another time.

We at CPP wish every kid could experience the joy of restoring his or her favorite truck or car. If you and your little motor-head are working on a project together, let us know.

CPP Expands Manufacturing Capabilities

CPP is constantly expanding and improving, so we can deliver higher quality parts at a lower cost to you. Recently, we purchased a new HAAS SL-10 CNC High-Performance Turning Center. This 5,500 lbs behemoth, with a 12-tool turret and over 1,000 tools, can be programmed to automatically manufacture a wide variety of products.

On the front end we’ve added a Servo Bar 300 to help boost productivity and streamline the turning operations. This servo-drive bar feeder runs directly from the SL-10’s computerized control center, making it the only “smart” bar feeder on the market.

On the back end, we have a Chip Conveyor for high-production work using harder materials (such as tool steel or cast iron). This belt-type conveyor clears chips from the machine’s interior and discharges them into a standard 55-gallon (208 liter) drum.

All in all, it makes for a very fast and efficient system, which means you benefit where the rubber meets the road: quality and price. Check out our video on its delivery, installation and operation, just go to our video page on our web site.

Last Thursday the gang piled into the living room of one of our top sales guys to watch the Lakers play. Chips, dips, drinks and quips flew about the festive atmosphere as the Lakers played superb defense at Staples Centers, and Kobe Bryant scored a finals career-record 40 points, 18 in the first half and 18 more in the third quarter.

Two great teams, Two great winners.

SoCal Novas Take Over CPP

Members of the SoCal Novas and Steve's Nova Site.com came together this last Saturday for a cruise to our shop in Anaheim. While they were here, we gave them the "50 cent" tour of our facility and a peek at our new machine shop next door. Watching over 50 Novas driving down Freedom into our building was quite a sight to behold...we couldn't fit all of them in our "group" shot! As they drove off to catch a burger down the street at Nick's, a few of them left their "mark" out front in the street! Thanks to all the members for coming out and making it a great day.

1st Annual Jeff's Fun Run is a Big Success

The first-ever "Jeff's Fun Run" honoring Jeff Hornsby was a huge success and plans are already under way to make this an annual event. We were happy to be a part of it and enjoyed watching all the classic vehicles cruise down Freedom Avenue towards our building. We could not of asked for better "cruising" weather for the day with not a cloud in the sky and the sun shining bright. Over a 120 vehicles participated on the run, including Sean Hornsby (pictured at left) who honored his dad by driving his famous pick-up truck that day. All proceeds went to Jeff's wife Debbie Houghton. Donations are still being accepted and can be mailed to: Pickups Limited, PO Box 4631, Anaheim, CA 92803.

Poker Run for a Good Cause

The President of Pickups Limited of Orange County Jeff Hornsby recently passed away from terminal liver and stomach cancer. It was a sudden and devastating loss to those who knew him and he will be sorely missed. When news of his illness spread, members of the classic car community, friends and family organized a Poker Fun Run in his honor with proceeds going to assist with his medical bills and wife. Unfortunately he will not be here to see the event this coming Saturday the 31st, but hopefully all attending will remember that not only are they helping his family, but doing what Jeff always promoted...having fun with their vehicles. The Run begins at Ken Grody Ford at 8:00, with a stop at CPP and several other local businesses throughout the morning. The ending stop will be at John Force Race Station. CPP Paramount is Coming Home

Last year, CPP acquired a 3000 sq. ft. completely operational machine shop located 20 miles away from our Anaheim facility in the city of Paramount. Plans are underway to move this entire facility to a newly renovated section of our current location. We hope the move will be complete by the end of February. These onsite machining capabilities will increase production as well as ensure the quality of CPP's products.

CPP at SEMA 2008

SEMA 2008 is nearing to a close after months of planning. Even with the state of the economy in flux, there is no way to keep the excitement down at these annual shows. With over 60,000 domestic and international buyers expected in over 2 million square feet of exhibits, the buzz can be felt across the city of Las Vegas. Our booth located in the Hot Rod Alley this year, featured many of our new products that can be seen on our website. We love this opportunity to see our current customers and as well as make new contacts in person. This year's theme was the "Year of the Camaro", and the American Muscle Car was out in force, along with every other kind of imaginable (and sometimes un-imaginable!) project car. It truly is a Mecca for car lovers!

"You Should of Seen the One That Got Away!"

A few of the CPP sales staff hit the wide open sea for a little fishing adventure last weekend. They headed out of San Pedro and spent the day reeling in sculpin, red snapper, cod and a few really great sunburns. The last time the crew went out fishing, they ran into a school of squid and that was all that was brought in the boat all day (they aptly named their previous adventure the "calamari safari!"). The boys were pleased this time to not have to deal with any of the eight-legged creatures.

The Agony of Defeat

Mario Salgado, one of CPP's customer service reps, lost a bet with fellow employees and pays dearly. Mario's beloved Angels lost to the Dodgers during the Freeway Series last weekend and his "pay-up" was to wear the winning team's colors. "Thanks to the Angels bats taking the weekend off, I am stuck wearing this ugly shirt." Mario says. "I hope I don't break out in a rash!"

CPP Customer Service Rep, Aaron Strietzel, began working on his 1957 Chevrolet four years ago this month. Besides the Corvette Millennium Yellow paint job it sports, the car has a 355/700R4 drive train, CPP's Big Brake front & rear brake kit, 500 Series power steering kit, tubular A-arms and MCPV-1 master cylinder and brake booster. While some would be happy with an artist rendering or photo of their project car, Aaron took it one step further by permanently inking this beauty on his arm.

Purple Pig Comes Back

The Purple Pig saga continues as Classic Performance Product's Danny Nix and Rod & Custom's Tech Editor Kev Elliot unload the car at CPP. Having left our shop for engine and transmission mounts at Walton's Fabrications, this '49 Chevy has returned for it's custom suspension make-over. While it was gone, Currie Enterprises built the rear axle in preparation for the work we will be doing, including converting it to a trailing arm suspension that will ride on air bags.

Rod & Custom magazine's David Stoker takes his '67 Nova SS around the Street Challenge AutoCross at the Goodguys OC Show. Stoker's Nova is outfitted with CPP's Mini Sub-Frame and Zero Offset Disk Brake Conversion Kit. He said the car handled great through the course, only wishing he had more rear tire to make it through the turns (and better driving skills, which it looks to us like he was doing great). Goodguys Autocross Proves To Be Good Testing Ground

CPP attended the Goodguys 2nd Annual OC Get-Together at the Orange County Fairgrounds this past weekend. It was the first time we exhibited at this show, and it was fun being in our own backyard. Source Interlink's Tim Foss sent us this photo of him testing out his 1979 C10 truck on the Street Challenge Autocross (and picking up a few cones along the way!). His truck is outfitted with our MCPV-1 master cylinder, front and rear tubular control arms, drop coil springs, drop spindles with our new 13" front brake kit and 12" rear disc conversion kit. CPP's engineer Danny Nix rode along with Foss on one of his Autocross runs and was blown away with how well the truck did. "It was very well balanced front to back, the steering was responsive and ride quality superb," Nix explained.

Hotrod & Resto Show

We headed out once again to Indianapolis for the 10th Annual Hotrod & Restoration Show, where we showed off our latest new parts. CPP's Operations Manager, Victor Zendejas, along with Aaron Strietzel and Ron Duncan met with dealers, attended educational seminars and introduced themselves to new buyers. After a week of 20 degree Indiana weather, the guys were happy to return to sunny Southern California.

The Purple Pig Arrives!

Testing 13" Brake Kits

CPP engineer Danny Nix joins John Barkley (associate publisher, Street Rodder) and Tim Foss (publisher, Street Rodder) who swung by to pick up their Chevy trucks after we finished running some spindle and brake tests on them. We outfitted their 1979 shortbed C-10 and 1974 stepside with our brand new spindle with 13" brakes and rear suspension package and had amazing results. We are hoping to have these products available in the coming months. Expect to hear a lot about these new items and their performance in the near future in Classic Trucks magazine. Turlock Show Turns 42

The Turlock Swap Meet has become one of the premier events for hobbyists in the restoring and collecting of antique and classic automobiles. Started in 1965 by the Modesto Area A's, a chapter of the Model A Ford Club of America, the swap meet has quickly grown into a nationally known event. For CPP, it was "touch and go" in the days leading up to the 42nd Annual swap meet, if we were going to make it up there. Southern California is known for our mild climate, but this year Mother Nature has been making up for lost time. With road closures and "Storm Watch 2008" in full force, we continued packing up, not wanting to miss the event for the first time in 10 years. Fortunately we made it there with no problems and the weather turned out to be beautiful. Swap meets really give us an opportunity to meet our customers face-to-face, not just a voice on the other side of the telephone. Overall, it was a great weekend and we look forward to it again next year.
